Silk - Care

Caring for your silk products in the correct way will ensure that they stay beautiful and luxurious for years to come. We are often asked if silk can be washed. And the short answer is, yes it can! There's no need for expensive dry cleaning. You can opt for machine or hand washing, just be sure to follow the silk cleaning instructions below.

Machine Washing

Machine washing is only recommended for our silk pillowcases. Silk eye masks and scrunchies can only be hand washed.

Turn your pillowcase inside out and place inside a mesh laundry bag. This will prevent it from snagging or catching on the machine and will prevent friction which can lead to piling.

Use a silk detergent (one specifically formulated for silk only) and wash on a cold hand wash or silk/delicates machine setting. Maximum of 30 degrees, and the colder the better. Do not use fabric conditioner.

Air-dry your silk pillowcases and keep them out of direct sunlight. Never wring out your silk as this can damage the fibres. Do not tumble dry!

It is not necessary to iron your silk pillowcase, as any creases will naturally fall out after a couple of night's sleep. However, if you do wish to iron them, turn your pillowcase inside out and iron on the lowest setting.

Hand Washing

Our silk eye masks and scrunchies must be hand washed, not machine washed. You can also hand wash your silk pillowcases instead of machine washing if you wish.

Use a silk detergent (one specifically formulated for silk only) and cold or lukewarm water. Do not soak silk for longer than 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Squeeze out any excess water and never wring out your silk as it will damage the fibres.
